An otaku(?) in Malaysia

Sorry for the unbelievably late post for To Love-Ru…

To Love-Ru anime starts off with a space chase sequence.

Heck, it even have an-honest-to-god Death Star trench run, lol.

Queue to our resident stalker Rito, who is busy stalking the love of his life, a cute girl name Haruna.

Every single time he tries to confess, some freak event occurs to prevent him from confessing to Haruna.

Then we found out the reason why Rito is madly in love with Haruna is due to an event in the past. It seems the old boyo was single out for spoiling a garden though he is totally innocent. Everybody started to lay some grief on Rito except Haruna who totally believe in his innocent.

Rito decide that today will be the day he confesses. Alas, his confession is interrupted again, courtesy of a huge junk of spaceship.

Dejected, he heads home. While he was in bath and started to drift off, there was a electricity crackle and the bath appeared to explode…

Boobies…

And Lala made her appearance ^^. By this time Rito was totally freaked out.

Alerted by Rito scream, Mikan headed straight to her brother. Rito says there is a naked girl in the bathtub. When Mikan peeked inside the room, it was totally empty. Mikan think Rito was imagining the whole thing.

Perplex, Rito went back to his room. As he entered, he notice Lala was on his bed, wearing nothing but a towel. Lala introduce herself and mention that she is an alien from the planet deviluke. To prove that she is an alien, Lala show her tail. She explains that she appeared at Rito bathroom through her ‘Pyon-pyon-warp-kun’ device. She then said to Rito that she is being pursued.

An angry looking Lala is fine too…

Peke appeared and after a short but sweet gattai sequence, Lala all suit and ready to go. Suddenly Lala SP two guy in a black suit jump into Rito room. They followed Peke to home in on Lala position. They try to capture Lala by force. Rito went all macho and save Lala by kicking the ball into one the gut in black face. During the commotion, Rito then escape with Lala through the window.

They ran across some rooftop. Haruna catch a glimpse of Rito and Lala running across the rooftop as well.

I swear, Zastin looks like Hyunckel form Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken XD

Rito and Lala ran until they reach a park when the path was block by Lala SP the guys in the black suit. A spaceship appeared on the sky and Zastin warp to the surface. Zastin ask Lala to stop running and return to Deviluke. We found out that Lala is the princess and heir of Deviluke. She ran away from home to escape from attending those darn arrange marriage meeting.

Lala then whips out her vacuum cleaner from hell Vacuum-kun. Vacuum-kun proceed to suck Zastin & Co. Then Vacuum-kun began to suck in everything else as Lala forget how to turn it off.

Next day, Rito was left in a daze due to last night event. He bumps into Haruna, who wants to ask Rito what happen the night before. Rito decide to confess right there and then…without knowing that Lala was in front of him. Nice going there boyo. Lala was getting all giddy and excited and reckon they should get married.

Thoughts:

Well, To Love-Ru started decently enough. Episode 1 was almost the same like the manga, but with a few variation thrown in. I guess Xebec decided not to skimp any of the fanservice. Not complaining though. I wish the quality of animation is a bit better. It looks wee bit…90ish.

Haruka Tomatsu did a good job in voicing Lala, I reckon. She was all bubbly, cheerful & cute, totally in line with Lala personality. And somehow I think Kana Hanazawa completely complement her role as Mikan. Oh well, I’m interested to see how To Love-Ru turn out to be in the future.

And for the record, Peke lucky b*****d, I hate + envy you XD.
