Tomoyo After: Dear Shining Memories is a manga adaptation of Key highly successful Eroge Tomoyo After: It’s a Wonderful Life. For you out there unfamiliar with Tomoyo After: It’s a Wonderful Life, the eroge basically takes further the story of Tomoyo scenario within Clannad. Tomoya has graduated from school while Tomoyo is now the school president. Both of them are now are now in a romantic relationship. But fate conspires to deliver them a cruel blow…

The manga storyline is adapted from those of the visual novel but with a difference. Instead being based on Tomoya perspective, the manga is based upon Tomoyo point of view. The manga follows closely upon the storyline of the game. The romance between Tomoya and Tomoyo is touch upon as well as the theme of ties between families.

Far from being a totally serious work, comedy also plays a part within Tomoyo After: Dear Shining Memories. I had a good laugh with the running gag of how Tomoya makes fun of Tomoyo ‘manliness’. Poor Tomoyo, she couldn’t get a reprieve from Tomoya constant joke of her being manly.

The whole Tomoyo After: Dear Shining Memories manga is comprise of a single volume. Some people out there might think that the storyline is rushed but for me I find to be in proportion to its single volume length. The mix of romance, drama and comedy is done nicely. As for the artwork, well I really like Yukiko Sumiyoshi style. Characters look well designed and the drawings of the expression within the manga are top notch.

So who do I recommend this manga to? If you like Clannad, I’ll reckon you appreciate this. If you love Tomoyo…what more can I say ^^. I had a blast reading this manga and hope you will so.
