Back as usual XD (I hope)
Thank god I’m able resume blogging again. Truth be told, the eye’s not 100% mend yet (there still blood line on/in it, the HORROR XD), but for me, the urge to blog and fill the internet with more useless fact is too strong. So, uh, gomen doc-sensei for not following your order’s.
I’m sure most of you notice how anime/manga tend to use reference/punt or something of similar ilk, on other anime or otaku culture and use it in their own work (lucky star *cough*cough*). Some of you might like it, some think it just company pimping their own shows and some just don’t get it at all (that be me). This issue got me thinking, does it make or break anime /manga when they use this kind of stuff in their work.
As usual, when discussing these kind of things, invariably matter fall into two camps.
On the pro side, they reckon that the uses of these techniques are perfectly acceptable. One might argue that it enhance the anime/manga even further. Think of lucky star episode 16. Most people (myself included) will say Konata dressing/acting as Haruhi is made out of pure awesomeness and win. And of course, if use properly, it add the missing punch-line for a certain joke.

Awesomeness supreme…or just self pimping?
Thing is, for most part, I just don’t get what they try to convey with these reference. Sure it makes the punch-line,err, work, but it doesn’t do jack if one is left clueless. Call me lazy, but I can’t be bothered to look online what they referring at. And the more cynical of us could point out that the use of reference is one way animation studios promote their repertoire of own series even more (lucky star *cough again* sorry, can’t stop coughing for some reason).
So, in the end, for me, there is a plus and minus when it comes to this topic. It’s like a hit or miss thing. Sure it makes the anime/manga more awesome, but at times it will just leave you scratching your head. Or even worse, you end up becoming somewhat cynical of the whole thing. Well, I guess in the end its up to one own preference, then.
P.s: Post will be updated intermittently. But i will try to update a.s.a.p. Ganbatte.

I don’t really have a problem about shows referencing other shows. In fact I really like it when they do it in animes and especially Lucky Star.
In fact that whole bit they did with Haruhi was my favorite part of the episode and everything around it was okay to boring. With the exception of the aforementioned Haruhi cafe and the parts outside and inside of Gamers(IE. People taking pics of Tsukasa, and Mikuru’s seiyuu as the shop keeper)
